But why’s it so popular?
What is Ravnica?

Even if youve never played a Ravnica set, youve most likely heard of the guilds.
They also enjoyed the spotlight in one of the olderDungeons and Dragons books, Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica.
Ravnica guilds
Each guild performs a different role in the running of Ravnica as a city.

(Which reflects rather poorly on your correspondent.)
That’s for good reason.
They’re the ‘protagonists’ of Murders at Karlov Manor, for lack of a better word.

House Dimir:A blue and black guild that deals in secrets.
They’re the spies of Ravnica, and are often dubbed ‘The Unseen’ as a result.
On the one hand, it handles entertainment for Ravnica.

On the other, it looks after menial labor and even assassination.
Golgari Swarm:A black/green guild that’s obsessed with the balance of life and death.
If anyone dies in their care, they’re raised again as plant zombies.

Gruul Clans:The poor saps in this red and green guildaren’treally a guild anymore.
Many are now enslaved and others raid their rivals, seeking to strike back in retaliation for their treatment.
They’re the lawyers and lawmakers of this world.

The Azorius round up innocent civilians and even children in mass arrests.
The Simic turn areas of the plane into scorched earth with bio-engineered plagues.
The Selesnya incorporate inductees into a hivemindish cult.

Its a political landscape whose destruction stands to enrich many.
An initial thought is that the obvious suspects are just that too obvious.
Either way, heres our setting a celebratory party at Karlov Manor with spirits high and tensions higher.

And seriously, what happened to Jace?
Stay tuned at home, folks; this set will be to die for.
